It is with great pleasure that the Knox Gardens Cricket Club formally announce the First XI captain for 2013/14 as Wayne McInerney. The club and committee are extremely excited with this new era for the Falcons and we would like to wish Wayne all the best in his endeavours. The appointment of Wayne comes after a proud history of promotion from within and developing excellent young cricketers and rewarding them with the opportunity to lead their club. The opportunity for Wayne to successfully apply for this role comes after Adam Wild was unable to commit to the role after an extremely successful 3 years as captain of the First XI. In his time he saw the club go from finalists to premiers and then last season helping us to 6 wins, including one against the eventual premiers Johnson Park, and arguably the most successful year the club has ever had. On behalf of the Knox Gardens CC committee and life members I would like to formally thank Adam for his dedication to the club, his fierce competitiveness and above all his leadership over the last 3 seasons. We look forward to Wilba terrorizing batsman for a few years to come and helping to ensure Wayne can replicate some of the success that he helped us to. The club is also extremely excited to announce that “young guns” Nav Singh & Jarrod Butcher have been rewarded for their stellar 2012/13 seasons by being named as Assistant coaches. They will help facilitate training methods, have key match day involvements and have been identified as future leaders of our proud club. Again on behalf of the Knox Gardens Cricket Club I would like to congratulate all involved and ask for your support on these key appointments as we step into a new era for our club. Thanks, Simon Wilkinson. Cricket Operations Manager.
