Young Gardener’s fight till the end in GF!

Two Knox Gardens CC junior teams represented the club proudly in Grand Finals over the weekend, unfortunately both losing to strong opposition.

The Knox Gardens Under 12 Black team (all out 99) fought bravely against a strong Eildon Park team (2-111). Best of the batsmen for Knox was Shenal (24), James Dekel (13) & James Fisher (13). Wicket takers for Knox was Ahdityan and Josh Manners. On behalf of the Club, many thanks to Coach Peter Wagner for looking after the boys so well this season.

The Under 13’s took on undefeated top team FTG and after Day 1 were level pegging. KG were 2-59 & FTG 1-51. The Knox boys pushed their score out to 135, setting FTG with a good chase. The game advantage went back and forth, and with 18 balls to go FTG needed 11 runs to win. A fantastic over from Sam Taylor getting 2 wickets kept Knox in the game and with 1 over to go needed a run a ball. Needing 1 run to tie and 2 to win the FTG batsmen hit a boundary to snatch an exciting win. Great effort by the boys to fight out the game to the last ball when at times they looked out of it. Be very proud of your efforts boys! The KG batting was led by Josh Curnow (31*), Anthony Jongen (39*), and Hayden Morrison (14). The best of the Knox bowlers was Nikhil DeSilva (2-27), Hayden Morrison (2-5) and Sam Taylor (2-26). Special note for some great fielding by Harry & Lachy towards the end of the game. Well done boys on a great effort and thanks to Morro for coaching the boys this season!
