Father vs Sons T20 Game

On Sunday in front of a packed house with soaring temperatures the Fathers won the toss and elected to bat first.
The batting side got off to a flyer with Ian Jongen smashing 16 off the first over showing little respect to his eldest son
Gerard. A couple of quick wickets then fell with a great run out to Zach Flintoff but that didn’t stop the big hitting with
Rhys Marget taking advantage of the smaller boundaries particularly when facing sons Jackson and Ben. Ian and Rhys
soon retired on scores of 41 and 47 and that meant that Tim Flintoff and Jason Buljubasic (a late inclusion to the side)
continued the big hitting getting the batting side to an imposing total of 6/186 off their 20 overs.

The pick of the bowlers included Tess Flintoff with 1/15 off 2, Nixon Adcock 0/13 off 2 and Declan Griffin 1/15 off 2.
Skipper Zach Flintoff returned disappointing figures of 0/22 from 2 overs including 3 big sixes.

After the change of innings Ben Marget and Hayden Morrison got the side off to a great start scoring 21 runs in the opening
2 overs before both retiring. An interesting 10 ball over which included a wicket and 21 runs from Shiv Malalasekera ensured
the run rate was on track and at 4/99 off just 8 overs the runs were flowing. Shane Jean pulled the run rate back a little with
2/11 off his 2 overs but when Tim Flintoff went for 25 in his second over and Jason 20 the game was all but done. After 16 overs
the kids had the game done and kept batting to compile 7/222 from their 20 overs a great performance!

The runs were shared around with Dishan top scoring on 32, Jack 27, Ben 25, Declan 23 and the rest did their job.
As for the fathers not much caught the eyes of selectors with Shiv 1/34 off 2, Tim Flintoff 1/30 off 2 and Jason 2/32 including some
outrageous celebrations.

A great day at the club and it should be bigger and better next year.
