Dream Team Updated

After a massive downpour of rain, Round 6 was reduced to draws for the top 4 grades this week.  The 5ths also failed to get a result from last week due to the downpour then too.  If the big fella is reading this, please don't have it rain on Saturdays (unless we're in a terrible position and ask for it), my team batted for 80 overs and didn't have to field a ball, so it wasn't all bad.

The 5ths were back with the bat last week and Steve Agius led the way with 54* in their total for 9/166, Doug David scored 31 and the Porn man did less than expected only getting 18.  Upper Gully saw the rain coming and weren't mucking around in their chase, scoring 3/80 from 13 over before the pitch was way too soggy for play.  Scott David was Upper Gully's favourite bowler with 33 from 4 overs.

The 4ths were bowled out after 70 overs, but a huge innings' from Peter Webb 78 and Bart Hoggett 39 took them all the way to 232, Ryan Metherell also chipped in with 34.  John Mills is under the pump, he scored 90 in the Round 2 and just 9 since then, Dream Teamers should be looking at JM cause he due for a big one.

The 3's were flying at Lysterfield and with 14.3 overs still to play were on 7/209, with Ryan Lepore 55* and Ben Morello was still able to get another duck.  Unlikley duo Luke Perryman and Daine Vernon opened the innings up and got off the a good start, putting on a 'unit' before a mini collapse had the 3rds on 3/35 and staring down the barrell of another low score.  Zane Thomas stood up and creamed 83 runs before being given LBW, probably by Crookie. Super Coach made 5.

Sean Reid was burned on the last ball of the innings, run out for 7 in the 2nd XI's total of 292.  The team was looking at a score of around 320-340 before the very heavy rain came and made batting conditions harder and a much slower outfield.  Jeremy MacKinnon 13 & Simon 'Drillbit' Taylor 55 got us off to a solid start once again putting on 73 for the opening stand, but Corne 'Corn Flake' Mostert was the backbone in the middle order and put on a very impressive 62 with partnerships with Ray 'Cyborg' Borg 27 and Mitch 'Sanchez' Gregory 31 that had the team in a heathly position and 'The Scorpion' was standing-by.  Turns out 'The Scorpion' (Simon Wilkinson 19, Adam Metherell 0, Ian Jongen 13*), were slightly adverse to the wet conditions that awaited them, not living up to their namesake.

The 1st XI lost the toss bowled against Knoxfield, the Beer Baron Nav Singh returned his best bowling figures for the club snaring 4/40.  Travis 'Foxy' Mulder was looking good 1/37 from 14.4 before injuring his hammy, luckily Adam Wild was right there to take the ball off him and start another spell, Wilba got 2/61.  Simon Grasser was the other wicket taker with 2/47 from 16 overs.  Knoxfield made 251 and it would've been a good chase by the boys to maintain their unbeaten run.

In the dream team, the batsman made up 7 of the top 10 positions with Zane Thomas taking the chocolates with his 83, Zane picked up 10 bonus points for making above 50.  Ryan Lepore also picked up points for 50 and a not out taking his score to 75, Ryans now 7th on the player ladder, and leading the club with best batting average.  Rhys's team "Falcon Unreal" stays at the top this week, but Wilba's team "Walk!!!!!!!!" (I think thats the right number of !'s) is creeping up slowly on top spot.

I think most people would've woken up with a reasonably sore head ofter a great function at the club on Saturday night.  It was the 2.5k draw, the winner was one of Nav's mates, sorry I can't remember your name.  His winning ticket number was 8.  Thanks to my greediness he won the 2.5k outright when I didn't want to split the money when it got down to the last 2 tickets, no regrets though.  Thanks to Jezza, Rhys Thomas, Bill Leane and Simon Wilkinson for their work on the night to make it a great function.

Finally, this weekend, it's the christmas breakup do.  It's gonna be a huge weekend for some, with VL Turbo's bucks night on Friday night and Tristmas on Saturday night after the "Player Revue" as the club.  If your team hasn't come up with an "act" for the night then think of something and get onto your captain about it.  All the act's will be done with by 9.30pm so you can get on with the partying where-ever your going.

End of transmission.
