The Knox Gardens Cricket
club is pleased to announce its Senior Coaching structure for 2019/20.
Moving away from the
traditional Coaching structure employed in the past, the club will introduce a
model based on high performance models used in various sports, designed to
improve the club’s professionalism and ensure that every player on the list is
provided the best chance of developing their cricket.
The Coaching group will be
managed by Aaron Bailey, who will take on the role of Head of Coaching. A
former president of the club, Bails moves into the management of our Cricket
program, overseeing the group of coaches and the senior cricket program. Aaron,
who is the Region General Manager of AFL Outer East brings an extensive
background in sports administration and coaching, having previously set up the
Eastern Ranges Female Talent program under a similar model.
Rhys Marget will support
Aaron in the key role of Cricket Operations. Rhys has had a long and
outstanding association at the club and will work with Aaron on areas such as
training, selection, club values and cricket operations.
Aaron will be supported by
three Senior Coaches, assigned key focus areas for the club
Jack Taylor – Training and
Match Day
Peter Dunlop - Game day
Strategy and Tactics
Daine Vernon - Player
Development
Jack Taylor has been
signed as one of our three Senior coaches, joining the club from Knoxfield for
the next two seasons. The former Victorian Under 17, 19 and 2nd XI
representative, who starred in the Norm Reeves Grand Final two seasons back for
Knoxfield, will start in a non-playing role as he recovers from injury before
moving into a playing coaching role. The star allrounder is a wonderful signing
for the club, brining recent District 1’s experience
First Eleven Captain Peter
Dunlop will take on a larger coaching role this season in charge of Game Day
Tactics and strategy, with a specific focus on developing the way our Norm
Reeves and Decoite shield teams play and prepare. Peter’s experience at
District, Sub District and Norm Reeves level provides the club an excellent
leader to set our on-field direction
Last year’s Senior Coach
Daine Vernon, moves back into a position he has been outstanding in for the
club, managing player development. Daine will work with our talented young list
of players to ensure they are provided the best opportunity possible to
develop.
Our Coaching group will be
supported by specialist coaches managing the key areas of the game. These
coaches will manage skill (craft) sessions at training, providing our players
with one-one feedback and support.
