Ben Mclean: The T/20 specialist last week made his way back
to the 3’s so he could bat with Pottsy and make himself look like David Warner
opening the batting compared to the 3’s skipper. He did just that peeling off 67
runs and setting himself up for a tilt at the division 5 batting average which
he so dearly craves!
Spencer Stuckey: Literally just a fraction taller than the
stumps little Spence has improved out of sight this season which has now seen
him produce a masterful innings of 100 not out in the 4th XI. Well
done to the young fella who now joins big bro Lachie and old man Christian as
centurions at the Gardens.
Deepak Puri: Excuse me!......Who?... No, not Le Snack the
biscuit dipping combination but one of the newest members of the Garden Army
playing in our 4th XI. He along with Spencer put on a 150 run
partnership to set up an impressive total. Deepak crashed and bashed his way to
76 before running out of dipping cheese! Welcome Deepak, and apologies.
Scott McInerney: A pretty good all round game from the
giggling assassin. Not performing as well as he can but found a bit of touch
with the stick after running himself out last game. Hit an important 22 which
backed up his 2/46 off 17 overs and hopefully we see the best of Scott in the
final few games as he delivers a few RKO’s to the opposition.
Josh Gregory: Once again finds himself in the team ahead of
Mitch after a gutsy 56 with wickets falling all around him got the team o’ so
close to victory again! Looks like he is starting to find some form on the
field but still struggling on the card table…
Sean Reid: Secretly dreams about, and wishes his team has a
bit of a middle order collapse so he can come to rescue and dig in for his
side, and why not, he delivers all the time. Literally pouring with sweat when coming
off the ground after making 65 not out in an epic 169 run partnership with the
fox in the 2nd XI.
Matt Young: Has to be considered one of the best number 8/9
bats in the world at the moment as he continued his impressive hitting form.
Combined with Boof for a 90 run partnership after the side lost 4/1 in no time.
Luckily didn’t get timed out rushing to get changed then composed himself to
plunder another 43 runs.
Travis Mulder: The old fox loves the big stage, and with the
2nd XI crowd nudging 20 he didn’t let his fans down. Bit of a nervy
start with a couple of thick edges but soon found his groove with the bat
toying with the fielders as he clubbed his way to a maiden century in the
penultimate over to a rapturous applause from the strong crowd and his
delirious team mates. Did bugger all with the ball but what a bloody legend he
is! Aww Yeah!
Michael Brearley: A Brearley strong performance from the spearhead
pace bowler after an injury plagued first half of the season. Wasn’t in the
good books after his first and most definitely last umpiring stints but toiled
away until cramp got the better of the young colt. Charged in all day for 3/69
off his 23 overs in the 2nd XI.
Ash Hawkes: The wild slinger threw em down well early
collecting a number of important wickets in the 3rd XI. Bowled a
marathon spell of 25 overs including 9 maidens with figures of 3/52 and then backed
up that effort by running a marathon! Impressive stuff!
Nikhil DeSilva: The more popular of the 2 DeSilva’s, Nikhil
once again showed why he is one of our most improved young players. A fine
spell of 2/13 delighted the ever grumpy 3rd XI skipper as he put the
team in a great position to win. More overs next game looks a certainty for the
super self-confident young man.
12th Man
Zach Flintoff: Son of Michelle and no relation
to Freddie, Zach had another impressive game and this time with both bat and
ball. Bowled very impressive early refusing to go for any runs at all but then
he eventually did. Not many though as he finished with impressive figures of 19
overs 2/55 and backed up a long week playing in Bendigo to hit 21 at the top of
the order. Meanwhile lil sister Tess was dominating at national level and other
sister Amy probably being awesome somewhere else so had to settle for 3rd
best Flintoff kid and 12th man duties.
