With round 2 being postponed we move ahead to the round 3 team. Only the 1's & 2's played this week in the T/20 double header against the basin and with only 2 sides playing it was a challenge but here is the team.
Josh Gregory (wk): Boof is very much suited to this form of the game and he showed us why on Saturday. Always busy at the crease he pushed the ball around to all parts of the field and backed it up with his great running between the wickets to churn out a run a ball 29. Kept well with a very sharp stumping of Nav.
Jack Marget: After the early exit of his old man Jack withstood a fiery spell from the opposition opening bowler and was then involved in a great partnership with Josh Wylde and helped get the team in a great position with 36 runs.
Josh Wylde: After a brief stint in the 1's Josh batted with class and built his innings perfectly getting bat on ball early and then pushing hard for boundaries late. Hit a massive six over mid wicket but unfortunately holed out the next ball for a team high 37.
Jarrod Butcher (c): Coming in under the pump after a disastrous run-out to the number 3 batsman Scott McInerney Butch had to fight hard to get his side back into the game. A real captains knock saw the skipper build his innings with a very crisp half century before trying one too many paddle sweeps.
Callum O'Connor: The ever improving young gun worked hard to set up a big total for the 2nd XI. Didn't quite find the fence as often as he was hoping for but worked the ball around and scored 16 not out to his name which was another solid performance.
Navinder Singh: Much different role for Nav in the shorter form of the game where he is used more for his crafty slow bowling and lower order batting. Bowled well to restrict the opposition and finished with 1/26 from his 4 overs.
Ashley Thompson: The big hitting powerhouse was not at his best this week with the bat unfortunately but he stayed involved with the ball. Gave the 2nd's a chance with a good spell which included a crucial wicket.
Michael Brearley: The dashing lower order batsman came in with the 1st's in real strife and helped bring the scores closer with a solid 12 not out after a tidy 3 over spell earlier.
Ashley Hawkes: The wild slinger came into the side to rip through the Basin's 2nd XI batting line up. Did a good job with the ball and created chances and finished with 2/22 off his 4 over spell.
Daine Vernon: The stand in skipper for the day almost got his side back on top with a great spell of 1/17 off 4 overs which included a rare maiden in this form of the game and backed up his bowling with a ripper of a catch that almost turned the game around.
Adam Wild: At his antagonistic best all day and managed to get under the skin of the opposition not for the first time. Bowled well and returned solid figures of 1/22 off his 4 overs.
12th man: The Garden Army: A great turn out by club players, supporters, and family members made Saturday a great day regardless of the result. A good atmosphere all day with everyone chipping in to make things run smoothly throughout the day.
