The Under 13’s
knocked over UFTG and head to a GF this Thursday-Friday night against a strong
FTG team. A great partnership by Hayden Morrison (30*) and Josh Curnow (30*)
and a great knock from Anthony Jongen (30*) allowed Knox to get to 130 leaving
UFTG with a good run chase. Jackson Marget (5-7) Nikhil ‘The Prince’ DeSilva
(3-29) did most of the damage with UFTG losing 8-24 to be all out for 67. In
the 2nd 25 overs Jackson Marget bowled an amazing spell taking 4-0
with 3 bowled and an LBW. Asked his thoughts on the performance, father and
club legend Rhys Marget said “It was a great effort by the boy, very
proud......but I did have to remind him that I did take 5-0 one day against JP
on a good batting wicket as a bottom ager....and pretty sure I did have a sore
shoulder too”. The GF is being played at FTG on Thursday/Friday starting at
5.15pm.
The Under 17’s
lost a close game against Upwey/Sth.Belgrave on the weekend at Knox Gardens
Reserve. After 25 overs scores the game was evenly poised with Upwey 2-73 and
Knox 2-75. Nick J and Zach put on a good partnership with Nick J making a
fantastic 46 and Zach 26. Some lusty hitting from Jackson Ealey (16) got Knox to
9-178 leaving Upwey with 109 to win. The dangerous Jackson Waters proved the
difference making 64* getting Upwey over the line in the second last over. A
few key catches that went to ground could have seen a different result. Well
done boys on a great year and thanks to Daine for looking after the boys.
The Knox Gardens
Black team were successful in winning Under 12 semi-final against the Knox
Gardens Red team over the weekend. The Red’s couldn’t overcome the tight
bowling from Luke Plumridge, James Fisher, Banuka Rodrigo & Shenal
Goonetilleke. Young gun Spencer Stuckey made an impressive 45 but wasn’t enough
to get the Black team over the line. The Red team run scoring was led by James
Dekel (30) and Ben O’Brien (29). The Black team travel to Eildon Park on
Thursday/Friday to tackle the old enemy starting at 5.15pm. Thanks to Red’s
coach Chris Stuckey for looking after the boys!
