Veterans Cricket Association Game

Hilton Heldsinger played in the 50+ FTGDCA inter-association game against a strong Ringwood District Cricket Association team on Australia Day, 26th January. Unfortunately the FTGDCA Batsmen were bowled out for only 98, which did not give Hilton much to bowl at. All reports are that he bowled well for 5 overs for only 20 runs.

After being advised on Monday that the 40+ side had lost a couple of their top opening bowlers due to injuries from the FTG double headers on Saturday and Sunday, Peter Webb had no hesitation in nominating Ian Jongen for the game.   Again, FTG had to bat on a wicket that had a bit of juice in it from overnight moisture, but the FTG batsman did a little better and made 133.   Ian was given the new ball and impressed immediately, bowling one of the openers in his first over. After bowling maidens for his first two overs, he finished with the fine figures of 6 overs, 2 maidens, 1 for 16. It could have been better, but for a couple of sharp but missed chances.
