The boys in the 1's ventured to the brilliant Talaskia Reserve last weekend and got off to a great start by winning the toss and electing to bat. Sean Reid 16 and Wayne McInerney 68 got the team off to a fine start with a partnership of 71. A batting collapse with Scott McInerney 16 and Travis Mulder 22 being the only other batsman to reach double figures as the team limped to 161. Daine Vernon was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22, whilst St Johns passed our total with 10 overs to spare 4 wickets in hand.
The 2's also won the toss and elected to bat against Knox. It was all Knox Gardens as Brett Morrison 106 and Ben McLean 114 put on an almost flawless 215 run opening stand ('cept for the few dropped catches) to squash any chance of victory for Knox. Rhys Marget also chipped in with 31 in the total of 6/293. Daniel Richards in his first game in the 2's impressed with 2/20. It was disappointing that the side could not dismiss Knox in their 45 overs, well batted by them.
The 3's had the close one. They also batted first and completed their 45 overs with 8/154. Extras achieved highest score with 41! followed by Peter Webb 24 and Ash Hawkes 23, and Jamie Tanner with 18. Rob Cottle then destroyed the top order with his lack of pace confusing the batsman, he took 4/28 from 6 and apparently 2 ripper caught and bowled's. Ryan Lepore then cleaned up the tail in his first match this season with 4/19 from 7.4. Auravale made 139 and it was a great win by the boys.
THe 4's unfortunately had to forfeit this week due to lack of numbers.
