Andrew Potts: The Pott strode to the crease without his
usual partner in ‘cyber’ crime Ben McLean but instead he had Rhys Marget to
pound boundaries with. In this case Pottsy was indeed taking full advantage of
the postage stamp sized ground awkwardly clubbing 76.
Rhys Marget: Also without his usual opening partner Rhys
played the way he always does trying to clear the fence at will. A hard hitting
59 got the 3rd XI off to a flyer.
Shannon Small: After a year off due to work commitments Shan
was welcomed back and opened up with the stick setting up a platform for the 1st
XI run chase. Accumulated a textbook 47 and shows no signs of rust early on.
Lachie Stuckey: Turned up to the game late and without his
usually well-manicured hair but still managed to look the part in the middle
after accepting the opening position in the 2nd XI. Sent numerous
balls whistling to the fence and looked impressive in defence to club a fine
49.
Hayden Morrison: Jr Morro slotted in a t for the 3rd
XI and came in with plenty of runs on the board. Threw away with his much-maligned
go-slow approach to become a brute powerhouse for the day! Apparently. Finished
the innings with forceful 57 not and showing signs he’s ready to go big in
season 2017/18.
Josh Wylde: Shows once again some fine signs of a young
leader as he controlled the middle over to help set up a big total in the 2nd
XI. Never flustered and keen on putting away the bad pills Josh finished the
day with a very polished 41.
Mitch Gregory: The very astute Mitchell was keen to impress
in game one of the season and looked good with the stick clipping away many 1’s
and 2’s before going bang and sending one half way up the hill on his way to 28
not out. Now a bowling all-rounder for some reason, the little genius was on
fire snaring 3 for 7 including some demon like deliveries sending shivers up
the opposition spines.
Adam Metherell: A welcome return from a club favourite and a
nice bag of 3 in the 1st XI was an impressive start. Not sure the
full bag of tricks was on display but look out when it is! That’s all I can
say. Will be looking for some all-round performances with the bat in coming
weeks.
Matthew Lambrick: The shank is as keen a cricketer as there
ever will be! Loves the game almost as much as arguing and enjoys a wicket.
Took a couple and slapped a handy 15 to finish off the 3rd XI
innings. Looking for some big big games from Lamby this season.
Jack Deveson: The man with the low front arm continued from
an impressive previous season taking a nice bag of 3 and helped the 3rd
XI restrict the opposition to a modest total in their run chase.
Drew Withers: The great man had a very impressive game and
has taken a liking to Miller park taking another good haul whilst terrorising
the opposition batsmen. Will be pushing for higher honours in the coming weeks
with some good form.
12th Man
Tom Wylde: Was a standout for the 4th XI clubbing
a stylish 23 not out in a rusty game for the rest of the team. For some reason
has taken a liking to the gloves in recent times and we wish him all the best
because he’s just fantastic.
