A number of new faces, two father son combo's and they are matched with some regulars who have had a fantastic start to the season.
Brett Morrison: The newly married opening batsman no doubt ‘checked
in’ to Wantirna Secondary where he helped himself to an afternoon of free
scoring to help set up a massive total. Still believes he was robbed of a
century when clean bowled on 99!
Rhys Marget: (wk) After an early scare with a controversial decision
Rhys toyed with the fielders in the battle with the gators. Compiled 76 runs
before departing and leaving son Jack to Ice the game.
Jack Marget: Enjoyed himself with both bat and ball after a
poke to the eye the game before. Very economical with the ball in the first
innings taking 3/25 off 19 overs and then backed up that effort with a 136 run
opening partnership with Marget Snr. An unbeaten 77 saw him one run ahead of
the old man and bragging rights for the week!
Hayden Morrison: Joined his father in the middle after the
fall of the first wicket and the two of them had a day out. Compiled a very
crisp 58 not out which included a fine 185 run father/son partnership.
Scott Christiansen: Making up for lost time after a few
seasons out of the game Scott notched up his 2nd consecutive century
in the 4ths great win. Higher honours surely beckon for this former
club champion.
Matt Young: In a real purple patch of form at the moment.
Once again saved the 1st XI with the bat getting the side first
innings points with a hard hitting 36 and then gave the team a sniff of
outright victory with a marvellous spell of drifting dippers taking 6/36 off 21
overs.
Tom Wylde: After a somewhat slow start to the season the new
Wylde boy took 4 wickets to go with his 4 runs in the 4ths to help secure the
win.
Zach Flintoff: The nickname ‘Brother of Tess’ is really
started to get to young Zach as he tries to make a real name for himself in the
1st XI. Has found some good form with the pill taking another 3
wickets in the rout over the gators on day 1.
Daine Vernon: Another steady performance from the veteran
off breaker. Helped put the clamps on in the 2nd XI shut down job at
HV Jones Reserve. Took 2/28 off his 20 overs including 9 maidens.
Adam Wild: (c) Another masterful display by the club great and
this time it was with both bat and ball. Ripped right through the opposition on
day one taking 6/41 before getting the side over the line with the stick hitting
35* to avoid an ugly defeat. Ended up taking 9 wickets for the game and is back
to his best.
Jack Deveson: WOW! After making himself available for just
half the game in the 3rd XI he had to do the damage with the ball
and boy o boy did he destroy! Taking career best figures of 6/37 in the first
innings and then backed up that effort taking another 5/32 in the second
innings. An incredible performance by an up and coming cricketer.
12th Man
Greg Crook: The Crookie monster hasn’t been seen around the
club for some time but apparently is slowing picking up where he left off as a
terrorising bowler with a real appetite for taking bags of wickets. Picked up a
tidy 3/29 in the 4th XI and it’s great to see the spearhead back and
firing.
