The best young talent at Knox Gardens have been strutting their stuff over the last couple of weeks with our boys….and Tess, playing some great cricket in the VMCU, R.M. Hatch and Outer East Eagles carnivals.
In the VMCU competition the Knox boys were outstanding with the bat. They led the run scoring for FTGDCA with Gerard Jongen 2nd in the run scorers for the Under 16’s, Brent Bredin (U.14 1’s), Hayden Morrison (U.14 2’s), James Dekel (U.12 1’s) and Ty Pugliese (U.12 2’s) all the leading run getters for their team. Well done boys!
The standout performance came from young gun James Dekel who had an outstanding carnival in the VMCU Under 12 Mitchell Shield team. James, batting at No.3 and as a bottom age player, was the competitions top run scorer making 177 runs at an average of 59 with scores of 41*, 42*, 47, 32, 15. Worth noting that James is yet to be dismissed for Knox Gardens this season with 120 runs to his name.
Some other notable performances included a great 54 by Gerard Jongen against ECA, a dashing 60 from Hayden Morrison against WGCA (including an all run 4!), a solid 50 from Brent Bredin against RDCA, Luke Plumridge 2-8 against RDCA, consistent batting from Ty making 111 runs, Daniel Strapp 2-12 vs MPCA and Luke Plumridge taking 3-8 vs YVCA. The hot weather caused havoc with the Outer East Eagles Under 14 Girls at the Vic State Championships with only 2 games being completed but Tess Flintoff finished the leading run scorer with her only hit making 19*. Well done Tess!
Well done to all the boys….and Tess, on their achievements.
