3 Grand Finals at Knox Gardens Reserve Posted by Ben McLean on Thursday, 15 Mar 2012 at 12:05pm It will be a big weekend at the Fort this week, as 3 sides seek to win their grand final matches. The Under 17's will play against Eildon Park from 8.20am on the #1 oval.  In their semi they boys batted first compiling 7/183 from 50 overs.  The boys were in trouble early at 3/23 with Scott McInerney, Mike Brearley and Daniel Carr back in the pavilion.  Liam Riley fell with the score on 63, but that brought brothers, Dylan and Josh Wylde together.  Dylan hit 29, whilst Josh dominated and smashed 69 which put the side into a great position.  Having batted out the morning, they came back on Sunday and dismissed Mountain Gate within 30 overs.  Daniel Car had the best bowling figures of 3/17, whilst Jimmy Sporton took 2/4 and Dylan Wylde 2/10.  Eildon Park defeated the highly fancied FTG Footballers side to make the GF. The U/15 1's side lost their semi final despite efforts of 51* from Niraj De Silva, 27 from Nick Jankovskis and 25 from Rhys Harrison.  They compiled 178 but that simply wasn't enough on Lysterfields home patch, they passed us in the last over. with 8 wickets down. The 3rd XI battled hard for the whole match but went down to Eildon Park in the 3rd last over.  Batting first they hit 250 at Stud Park reserve which seemed like a good score in a line up that would be considered lop-sided to the bowling.  Brett Morrison and Andrew Potts got the side off to a flyer with 110 on the board before Andrew fell for 29.  Brett then fell for 96, the 3rd 90odd in as many weeks for the club. Peter Webb hit 23 before the middle order faltered, but it was a fine recovery from Jason Buljabasic 48 and Nick Jankovskis 22 who led the team to the 250.  On day 2, the boys took early wickets with the score at 4/80 when most of KGCC arrived to watch the rest of the game. A fine middle order partnership from Eildon Park saw us needing to take wickets to stay in the match.  A great catch from Andrew Potts in a key moment and a terrific runout from Nathan Montague gave the side some hope but under tremendous pressure Eildon Park managed to get the runs. The 2's had a very comfortable win over Auravale. Adam Metherell had the ball on a string taking 7/28 on Day 1 and KGCC dismissed the Lakers in time for tea for just 120.  Simon Taylor backed up his fine season taking 2/33 and making 37 with the blade.  I think everyone is sick of Tim Flintoff making runs now, he got 46* and will be quite handy in a grand final.  The Boys will take on Lysterfield who defeated South Belgrave. The 1's didn't capture early wickets against Mountain Gate, the Gators were 0/13 from 13 overs, but a bowling change and a great runout by Daniel Adams saw the home side snaffle 4/10 from the next 12 to have the Gators heads well below the water line.  Another 3 wickets together and the scoreboard favoured the Gardens at 7/53.  The tail wagged much to the delight of the Gators faithful, but 94 seemed on the light side.  Travis Mulder and Daniel Adams were the pick of the bowlers with 3/34 and 3/24, whilst Daine Vernon took 2/4.  A first wicket stand of 41 got the side off to a positive start before a couple of wickets fell, this brought gun bat Wayne 'The Juice' McInerney to the crease and together with David Prowse they guided the side over the line and beyond, crushing the Gators dreams of reversing the scoreline.  Wayne ended up with 56* and David Prowse 70* in his best knock of the year.  The 1's also will play Lysterfield at home after the dispatched of Rowville.   Views: 1865
