The 1st XI continue to dominate the opposition with an outstanding victory over Aura vale.  Prior to this clash both teams were undefeated with Aura vale just on top by percentage.  Knox Gardens batted first and got away to a solid start, with Sampath Hettiarachchige 34 and Braet Adams 14 again getting the side away to a great start, putting on 48 for the opening wicket, this however is where it all went pear shaped.  Sampath, Braet, Nav, Butch & Rhys all fell for just 5 additional runs with the score on 5/53.  The Josh's combined to fight back with Josh Phillips 37 the leading light.  Wilba 28 and Matt Young 21 wagged the tail and frustrated the opposition taking the total to 10/169.

The seconds were defeated despite being in the game all the way to the end, had some decisions gone our way early on the the result would no doubt have been different. "The bowling was too good" in the early part of Day 1 but a number of dropped catches allowed Ben McLean 23 and Ray Borg 23 to put on a valuable 52 run partnership, but again consecutive wickets was costly, we lost 2/3, 2/0 and 3/2 in patches of our innings, it's an area of our game we need to improve.  Matt van Lith was again the lynch pin of the tail, with 22, but he was in a good partnership with big hitter Adam Metherell who smashed 47 and helped the score along to 169. Adam Metherell bowled well on day 2 picking up a crucial wicket, bowling the batsman around his legs with a vicious spinning off break.  Adam picked up 3/65, but much of those runs came after Knoxfield passed our total.  Rhys Thomas also toiled with the ball, taking 3 wickets with his left armers.  Knoxfield passed our score and went on to get 230, man of the match was C. Heat from Knoxfield.

The 3rds had a real shake-up this week, with a new skipper in town out to prove he was the best all-rounder at the club.  Sean Reid bowled his arm off, taking an impressive 3/21 from 12 and Greg Crook took 2/18 from 10.  Mark Dalton also made an impressive comeback with 1/48 from 15.  The boys keeping Belgrave to a gettable 232 on the small and fast Llewellyn pitch.  Mark Dalton really lead the way with the bat with an impressive 63, but with the score on 5/118, it looked as though the team had faltered, but the batting depth was there with Zane Thomas 49, Sean Reid 51* as skipper and Luke Perryman 35 all contributing to win the game, the guys hit 7/251.

The 4's travelled to Menzies Creek to take on Belgrave, the guys had a young side, only 3 cars proving to be the biggest headache for the skipper, Crazy Rob Cottle.  The machine that is Blake Lines took 3/65 from 22 overs, Blake always bowls alot of overs and bowls tight Lines.  Daniel Williams also bowls alot of overs, this week taking 2/47 from 18.  Ash Hawkes was the pick of the bowling figures, taking 3/27, all 3 of his wickets were out bowled.  The good numbers did not stop Belgrave motoring to 232 on the grassy knowl at Menzies Creek.  Week 2 did not end as well for the 4's as it did for the 3's and the young side, with a touch of experience from Webby and Crazy, couldn't get near 232 and were bowled out for 115.  Bart Hoggett 24 and a captains knock of 25 from Rob were the best batsmen.  The 4's should benefit from the return of a few players in the next round.

The 5th's were badly undermanned in the first week, the game only lasting 24.4 overs, we only had 7 players.  We were bowled out for 44 with David Hancock making 20.

Fortunes were reversed in week 2 though, this week batting first on a wet track, the guys managed 163 with a classy 36 from Barry Wild and Ashley Thompson scoring 26, extras also did well with 31.  Some outstanding bowling from Ashley Thompson 5/3 from 8 overs, Mark Hancock 2/8 from 8, and Scott David 2/5 from 4.2 meant that the 5ths are back on the winners list, bowling out Bayswater for 39.  The only improvement required is to kill the opposition faster, the 39 runs came from 37.3 overs!

Statistically it was an interesting week for the club.  The 1's & 2's both made 169, and the 3's & 4's both were chasing 232.

Plenty of Dream Teams were hampered by 1st Innings ducks in the 1st XI, many teams had Rhys Marget as captain, ouch.  My team did ok, but Simon Taylor was seeing things clearly when he picked his side.  He managed to score 534 points when the average was around 400, so well done Simon.  Sean Reid was the Player of the Round, just pipping Ashley Thompson by 1 point.  Sean has played well as skipper and could find it a full time position next season?
