Rhys Marget- Just the usual 63 off 6 overs is what we’ve all
been accustomed to from the old fossil in the later years of his career. Got
the 3s off to a blazing start and when he was dismissed the score read 1/80 off
6!
Jay Wagner- One of the club’s rising up and comers joined Rhys at the
top of the order for his 1st 3s game and after watching Rhys go about his
business he quietly went about his own work notching 62 in what could be a
stand out year for Jay-Z
Pete Dunlop- The new 1XI captain didn’t disappoint
as he hit his first 50 for the club. Although opening on Saturday to get the
1s off to the perfect start and set up an impressive victory he will have to
bat at 3 for this team and have the C next to his name which will probably
never play a game.
Gerard Jongen- In the 2s chasing 214 against South Belgrave on a lightning
fast deck, Gez couldn’t match the pace of the
outfield however his 42 held the innings together although they didn’t get the
chocolates his innings will give him plenty of confidence
Callum O'Connor- After a long time of performing off field Carlton delivered
on field, notching up an impressive 49* up at South Belgrave to give the 3s an
imposing total of 3/254. Higher honours appear likely if he continues this form
Sam Bakker- After an emphatic season last summer Baxter picked up
where he left off making 56 against the gators on the beautiful surface called
Knox Gardens oval number 2 which helped his 4s side to 8/204 and win by over
100 runs
Jason Buljubasic-Jase is the 5th opener to make this weeks side after what
looked like to be a dashing 50 from my view from the top oval, ploughing
everything through point. Good to see him back in the thick of the action after
a recent dry spell
Scott McInerney- After a fast start by the sharks at Fairpark the 1s
score of 7/201 looked under par but those thoughts were quickly wiped away when
Scotty punched the sharks out Mick Fanning style to take home the 6
points
Daine Vernon- A quality 3/38 from the recently appointed club coach’s 8
overs allowed the runs to dry up against the saints of South Belgrave where the
2s looked like chasing a score of around 240. However those two 5 wides he
bowled plus a very interesting wide call would’ve made
the coach pull his hair out
Josh McGowan- Looks like those gains have been successful after all as
Daine’s love child took 3/35 from his 8 in the 3s. No doubt a 2s call
up is beckoning so the coach can bowl in tandem with his favourite kid
Greg Crook- Didn’t expect to see crooky
back for another year until I saw him down at the cricket sale at Morrabbin and
the idea of only training once before the season has crossed my mind after he
blazed 52* at number 9 then opened with the new pill and took 3/7 from 5 overs
to smash Mountain Gate
