The seniors may not have played much cricket on the weekend, but the Juniors completed their matches.
The Under 13 1's side, witnessed by a crowd of around 200, kept their heads whilst under pressure to win the clubs 1st premiership for 2008/2009. The game ended with both Knox Gardens and Eildon Park scoring 153, but with ladder position advantage, Knox Gardens takes the title. It was a thrilling finish to the game on Sunday morning, with Knox Gardens effecting 5 runouts and 2 brilliant catches in the slips taking the last 5 wickets for 5 runs. Daniel Carr was solid once again with 27 and whilst Josh Wylde struggled to score on Saturday, he scored quickly on Sunday morning and retired on 41*, Zach Flintoff also compiled 16 and put on a big partnership when it counted. Jayden Hawkes topped the bowling figures with 3/19.
Unfortunately for the Under 15's they fell short on the day, but played very well at the right end of the season to make finals. Alex London topped the batting with 33 and the bowling with 2/30 along with Dylan Wylde 27, Scott McInerney 19 and Anthony Howes 15 the boys were all out for 130 chasing 205 set by Lysterfield.
Mark Dalton has the 1st XI away to a good start against Knoxfield with 49* and is at the crease with Rhys Marget with the score at 4/109 after 41. The 2's have contained Knoxfield to 3/82 from 43 overs with Simon Taylor taking 2 wickets. And the 4's are off to a great start with 2/147 with Peter Webb still at the crease on 79* and a chance to put together a massive innings, John Mills also contributed with 44. |
